Throughout her 70 year reign, Her Majesty visited Salford on numerous occasions, most recently to the ITV Studios and MediaCityUK in July 2021.
In a Press Release, Salford Mayor, Paul Dennett said: “We know that we represent the people of the city of Salford at this time in sending our condolences to the Royal Family who will also mourn the Queen as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
“The period since the coronation of Queen Elizabeth has witnessed many momentous social changes.
“As our Monarch, the Queen demonstrated her devotion to a life of service to the country and it is fitting that we come together to honour her.
“As Head of the Nation, she has been a focus for unity and pride and we will join the nation and our local community in mourning.
