Celebrating Salford’s Rich Heritage and Creative Spirit with 11 Inspiring Community Projects - Lowry

Eleven inspiring Salford-based community organisations have been selected to be a part of a project at the heart of Lowry’s 25th birthday celebrations.

The Lowry’s project, Together We Create, and will deliver partnerships with Salford CVS (Community and Voluntary Services), which has been funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Together We Create will aim to bring people together through the creativity in order to celebrate the heritage of Salford Quays and Lowry, and the impact it has had on the region.

Jenny Riding, Director of Learning & Engagement at Lowry said “Together We Create is a beautiful reflection of what makes our communities so special—creativity, collaboration, and a deep sense of pride in Salford.

“It was so important to us to celebrate our communities, our history and heritage, and the vibrant spirit of Salford as part of our birthday.

“Thanks to the support of The National Lottery Heritage Fund, we’re not just marking a milestone—we’re making new memories and shaping the next chapter.”

The eleven groups were able to come together to mark the beginning of the project at a special Welcome Event at Lowry on Thursday 26 June.

Those inspiring community projects included are Community Support Centre, Talk About It Mate, Women with Wings CIC, Stepping Stones Creative, Lusoconnectionuk CIC, and Tatty Kids Drama Club.

As well as Comedy Stitch Productions CIC, Doosti Salford, Jak’s World, Salford Arts Theatre, and the Friday Friends Community Wellbeing Group.

With the celebration of communities, history, and heritage beginning in honour of the Lowry’s birthday, Helen Featherstone, Director, England, North at The National Lottery Heritage Fund said.

“Communities are at the heart of our heritage stories, and it is fantastic to see they are also at the heart of Together We Create celebrating Lowry’s 25th birthday.

“We’re delighted to be supporting Lowry Turns 25 to enable the communities of Salford to share the heritage of the cultural hub and Salford Quays through these wonderful and diverse activities,” she added.

And with the project being supported by Salford CVS, Alison Page, CEO at Salford CVS said: “Salford CVS are delighted to be part of Lowry’s 25th birthday celebrations, managing the Together We Create small grants programme.

“We are excited to see the projects come to life over the next six months which will showcase the diverse range of culture and creativity in the VCSE sector and promote engagement with arts and culture across our city.”

The community groups will come back together at Lowry for the culmination of the project on 18th November 2025 for a special celebration event that will showcase all 11 projects.
