A man is aiming to raise money for a homeless charity through a daring bungee jump in Salford.
The bungee jump will be completed by Gavin Vitler, who will be taking on the daredevil 160ft jump at the Salford Quays Watersports Centre.
Gavin, originally from Middleton, will be going to the Quays on Saturday 26 April to help raise money for the Petrus Homeless Charity.
Petrus aims to end homelessness and create a safe space where people can flourish.
Gavin has been working with Petrus for several years, providing toiletries, warm clothes and non perishable foods.
Previously, Gavin and Petrus have given over 350 meals to vulnerable people who needed the help of the charity.
Gavin said: “Petrus reached out to me, and asked if I would do a bungee jump. I literally jumped at them and said yes immediately.”
He had noticed a rise in people losing their homes and being on the verge of homelessness.
Gavin has previously raised £1,090 for Bowlee Community Organisation at Christmas, by doing an advent calendar of semi-nude selfies.
Petrus chose Salford Quays to be the host of his bungee jump, for both the location of the crane and so that the people rally around him in support.
The fundraiser is half way to the target of £250, and Gavin is hoping to smash his target and “raise as much money as possible.”
The fundraiser has received support online, as Jeannie Murphy said: “You are amazing! Thank you for supporting Petrus Gavin.”
The Salford bungee jump will take place on Saturday 26 April, with more details to come nearer the time, and those wishing to donate can visit the JustGiving page here.
