A Salford artist’s striking mosaic of the iconic Salford Lads Club celebrates the landmark’s cultural legacy.
Following the announcement of Salford Lad’s Club smashing their £250,000 fundraiser the youth centre can now look to the future as the lights remain on.
The iconic youth centre has served Salford generations for 121 years, but a local artist has been able to immortalise the club with a tiled mosaic to celebrate the rich cultural heritage.
The Salford-based artist and tiler, Rob Lally, was able to be build an impressive reputation in the world of mosaic art, creating intricate pieces that have captured the attention of high-profile clients and art enthusiasts alike.
Following the news of the Salford landmark being saved, the Salford artist said: “Fantastic news that Salford Lads club has reached its funding target. It’s an essential part of Salford’s history and heritage and even more important for our community.”
Rob’s talents have drawn the attention of some major clients, leading to commissions from football clubs and celebrities, including none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Among Rob’s standout works, it is his commissioned mosaic of Salford Lads Club that holds a special place to the city.
The mosaic was able to capture the historic landmark and also celebrates its legendary status in the community.
The piece showcases Rob’s meticulous craftmanship, rendered in his preferred medium of black-and-white tiles.
As he explained: “Black and White allows me to bring out all the details.”
Despite Rob’s international acclaim, Rob’s roots remain firmly planted in Salford, and his mosaic stands out as a testament to his talent and celebration of the city’s rich cultural heritage.
