Halloween is fast approaching and there are many spooky events lurking around Salford for young children and families.
Most of the events are under £5 and occur during the school holidays for the perfect place to take your kids for a ghoulish time this October.
Browse the events below for some spooky inspiration to entertain your children this halloween.
Pick your own pumpkin and Spooky trail in Princes Park Garden Centre:
This year there will be a new pumpkin patch at Irlam’s Princes Park Garden Centre, based on Liverpool Road, with guests being able to pick their pumpkins between Saturday 12th October and Saturday 26th October.
This will be followed by a spooky trick or treat trail, held on Sunday 27th October, with guests having access to the daylight trail between 2:30pm – 4pm with the nighttime trail occurring from 5pm until 6pm.
The garden centre will also have a selection of rides on offer that will be provided by Northwest funfairs and the guests also have the opportunity to win prizes for best dressed, and best pumpkin carving.
The event will be free to enter, with no booking or tickets required.
Halloween Treasure Hunt:
The spooky Halloween Treasure Hunt will be open for guests around Salford at all of the Salford Community Leisure Libraries.
The event will run all day through the 21st October until 26th October from 10am-4pm.
Guests have the opportunity to get involved in the mini Halloween trail for free and no booking is required.
Ordsall Hall
This October, Ordsall Hall have lots of spell binding activities on offer for families to attend. Throughout the build up to Halloween, there will be sessions that will run throughout the half-term break.
The venue that has stood in Salford for many centuries will give the guests the chance to explore the various spooky and thrilling activities.
Decorate a spell book:
On Monday 21st October, you can decorate your own secret keepsake box disguised as a spell book and guests can choose their suitable session from the three available at 11am, 1pm, and 2pm.
If that date isn’t suitable, another spell book session will be held on Monday 28th October, just ahead of Halloween, from 11am until 12pm.
Tickets cost £3 per child, with accompanying adults going free.
Wand making:
Visitors will also be able to visit Ordsall Hall for the opportunity for children to make their own wand.
The activity that will be held on both Wednesday 23rd October, or Wednesday 30th October will allow families to build their own magic wands using natural materials and resources.
The sessions will be held at either 11am, 1pm, or 2pm, with children being able to cast their own spells and channel their inner wizard.
Tickets to the event will cost £3, and booking to the event will be required.
Salford community Leisure:
Crafty Monster mash up craft session:
Salford Community Leisure will be hosting self-led craft sessions across most of the Salford libraries through the half term.
The spooky themed sessions will allow children to interact with their creative side from the 21st October until the 25th October.
The event will be spread all the surrounding libraries between 10:30am and 3pm, and will be a great activity for kids this October half-term.

Fancy dress fairy tales storytelling session:
Five Salford libraries will be hosting fairytale story telling sessions between October 22nd and October 25th, with guests being able to explore the variety of stories, songs and magical surprises.
The events will be held between 10am and 2:30pm throughout the October half-term, with the locations of the events being found here.
Tickets are free but booking is required.
Mumbies & Mini Monsters Halloween Party:
Wren Yoga and Calm Clouds are hosting their Halloween disco at Transcend Studios in Eccles, located in Bridgewater Mill on Legh St, with parents and young children, between the ages of 0-5 years, invited to join the Halloween fun.
The event will have lots to keep your little monsters entertained including a selfie station, crafts, sensory play, a monster disco for the children and allows parents the opportunity to enjoy a treat and socialise.
The party will occur across two separate sessions with the first being 12:30pm – 1:30pm and the second session being 1:30pm – 2:40pm. .

Salford Museum and Art Gallery will also be hosting a variety of spooky events across the October Half-term.
Haunted Victorian cardboard doll houses –
On Tuesday 22nd October, the museum and art gallery offers the opportunity for guests create their own Victorian Haunted Dolls House.
Guests and visitors will be encouraged to use any spooky influences, such as Lark Hill Lane, as inspiration.
There will be three sessions running at 11am, 1pm and 2pm, with tickets being priced at £3 per child, which can be booked here.
Totally Gruesome – Walkden Town Centre (Shopping Centre) –
Walkden Town Centre is home of the pop-up exhibition, ran by Totally Awesome, which inhabits an indoor mini ‘escape room’ with 10 themed rooms for visitors to explore.
The Halloween orientated event is suitable for primary school-aged children, who will have the opportunity to explore the spooky rooms and take in the various attractions, such as a museum-style exhibition of colossal dinosaur models.
The pop-up is open for a limited time only, and will take over an hour to complete, which will include a free quiz to participate in, guests will also be given a free souvenir photo.
Tickets can be purchased online, with booking currently open, with a “family of four” ticket being £20, an adult ticket being £5.95, a child’s ticket (2+ years old) being £5.95, while babies go free. A Booking fee of £2.95 is in place.

Paint your own pumpkin workshop –
Kargo MKT, located in Salford Quays, will be holding a workshop for children to paint their own pumpkins this Halloween.
The event is taking place on the 23rd October, and will run between 10am and 12pm.
The painting session, will allow guest to paint an option of ceramic pumpkins, witches’ hats, or ghosts and decorate them in a range of spooky colours and creative artistic style to create a one-of-a-kind design to take home.

Halloween family silent disco –
Kargo MKT will also be hosting a Halloween silent disco to celebrate on the day!
Guests are invited to dress up in their creepiest costumes and join in the dance party fun.
The disco costs visitors £2 a ticket, and will allow them to grab a pair of wireless headphones and choose between two music channels to find the perfect Halloween dance tracks.
All will be welcome with doors to the event opening at 11am, and will give children the opportunity to dance their hearts out for the entire hour.

Halloween Spooktacular Bash – Scream on the Green!
On Saturday 26 October, two parties will be hosted at Roe Green Cricket Club in Worsley on Greenleach Lane. With the first party running between 3-5pm, or the second session running between 6pm and 8pm.
The event at the cricket club will be filled with costumes, games, food, music from a live DJ.
Visitors of the bash will be encouraged to wear their most creative and scariest costumes for a hosted competition, with a grand prize for the best original outfits.
The clubhouse bar will also allow visitors to indulge in a variety of delicious spooky foods from the grill, and share the festivities in the outside event.
Guests are encouraged to wear warm clothing, and waterproof footwear as the event is being held outside.
