The annual celebration of Black History Month is here in Salford with events lined up throughout the month.
Events include celebrating Black Excellence in women with Women with Wings, to various production performances at The Lowry and the annual Gala hosted by the Caribbean & African Health Network.

The month will also be celebrated with a number of other events with the Salford CVS announcing:
CAHN – Black History Month Greater Manchester Civic Launch
The annual Black History Month Civic Launch event will take place on This year’s theme, “Our Story, Our Contributions” honors the ongoing impact the Black community makes in society every day.
With the event taking place at Manchester Cathedral, it will hope to share here will be entertainment, networking opportunities, and stalls showcasing talents and businesses.
CAHN – Black History Month Gala
The Caribbean & African Health Network will also be honouring individuals and organisations for their contributions to the health and wellbeing of the Black Caribbean and African Communities.
Nominations will be accepted for those who through personal or professional efforts have made a difference to Black Caribbean and African people.
The Gala will be held at the Hilton in Manchester on the Saturday 12 October 2024.
The Lowry has also announced :
As I am Naturally by Tania Camara
As I Am Naturally is a new production from performance artist Tania Camara (Oreo) features spoken work, dance and live music using the traditional music and dance style Batuku.
Audiences are transported from the landscape of Salford to the African island of Cape Verde.
It is commissioned by The Lowry as part of artist development programmed ‘Developed With’ with additional support from Arts Council England, LusoConnection UK.
The event will run from Thursday 26 September to the Friday 27 September, with the Lowry set to be excited by the performance artist.
The Lowry will also be hosting the QDance Company’s Re:INCARNATION.
With ten dancers and two musicians set to perform the cycle of life marked by the urban chaos of the Nigerian city of Lagos.
The performance will pay homage to Nigerian music, Afrobeats and traditional African music.
With the performance from the ten dancers and musicians with the event taking place from Tuesday 8 October to Wednesday 9 October 2024.

Feelgood Theatre Productions Slave – A Question of Freedom
Set in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan and London the story of her childhood, and enslavement is told by an ensemble of eight actor-musicians through storytelling, music and dance.
The theatre production will take place from Wednesday 9 October until Saturday 12 October 2024.
