Man arrested on suspicion of rape involving a teenage girl in Irlam

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the rape of a teenage girl in Irlam.

At 4am on Sunday July 28 police received reports that a teenage girl had been raped in a woodland area near the River Irwell Old Course in Irlam.

She is currently being supported by specially trained officers.

The 23-year-old suspect remains in police custody for questioning.

A statement from the police reads: “At 4am on Sunday 28 July 2024, we received reports that a teenage girl had been raped in a woodland area near the River Irwell Old Course in Irlam.

“She is being supported by specially trained officers.

“A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape. He remains in police custody for questioning.”
