Salford City winger Luke Bolton spoke ahead of the new season as the Ammies aim for League Two promotion.
He seemed very confident to start the 2023/24 campaign, which starts this weekend.
The vibe around the Peninsula Stadium seems positive with Luke adding: “It’s the best changing room I’ve been involved in.”
The winger spoke positively about the new additions to the changing room: “They’ve done well to be fair, settled right in.
“They’ve all settled in really well it is a top group.”
It seems that everyone will be pushing for the same objective of promotion.
The 23-year-old added he to make an even bigger impact on the club’s ambitions this year, adding even more to the scoresheet than the previous six he scored in the last season.
“I want to be getting 20 goal contributions if that’s ten goals and ten assists that’ll be perfect.”
And despite narrowly missing out on promotion with a defeat to Stockport County in the semi-final, he doesn’t want to look at the past: “I wouldn’t say it has affected us there is no reason to dwell on it. It is what it is.
“We all lost and we were gutted at the time.
“But as a group as a whole, we want to kick on and stop that from happening again. And hopefully, we don’t need to go through the playoffs, we go up automatically.”
The Ammies have already had some tests this pre-season, with Bolton missing the first week of training.
“I had a quad injury at the end of last season, so I have been rehabbing an injury over the summer and had to miss the first week of training.”
He was quick to reassure that everything is fine now, despite picking up a small knock in a recent friendly as he added: “Everything is fine now and I’m back in training for the start of the season.”
Nonetheless, the Ammies will be looking to get right back to winning ways, as Luke detailed Neil Wood’s message to the squad: “The message is still the same, if not lets be better and not go back on anything we’ve done.”
This will be interesting to see Salford’s first test being Forest Green Rovers away this Saturday,
