Salford City have announced their second new signing of the summer as Colchester midfielder Ossama Ashley.

Ashley signs from the U’s for an undisclosed fee and becomes The Ammies’ third permanent arrival this summer after the signing of Blackpool left-back Luke Garbutt and keeper Alex Cairns making his stay at the Peninsula Stadium permanent.

The Greenwich-born center midfielder arrives in Salford City on an initial two-year deal.

The midfielder described his style of play speaking to the club’s website: “I’m athletic, I love a tackle, I’m a workhorse, and I’m somebody who doesn’t stop running.”

The 23-year-old made 28 league appearances last season, with his side unbeaten in 15 of the 20 appearances Ashley made in 2023. The young Englishman spent two years at Colchester after previously playing for Wimbledon and in West Ham United’s academy.

Ashley also added: “[Salford’s] a team I followed closely during last season and a team that stood out in the league. It was probably the hardest team we played against, and the style of football is attractive so I’m really happy to be here.”
