The bus, operated by Diamond Bus North West, crashed at around 9pm on Monday (10 April). It was not in service at the time of the accident and there were no passengers on board.

Curious onlookers were photographing the bus from behind the cordon tape as police reminded them not to enter the accident scene.

“There are height restriction barriers the driver must have hit before going down to the bridge, why did he not stop then?” said passer by James Greg. “Well, we’ve got a new Julia”.

Julia was the name of Diamond Bus North West’s former open top sightseeing bus that was recently withdrawn from service.
