Salford tenants at social and private housing are travelling to London tomorrow to protest about the cladding on their buildings.
The campaigners want to ban the use of Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) cladding on buildings in the UK.
Graeme Langton, a resident and member of the Malus Tenants and Residents’ Association, said; “We want a height restriction put in blocks for people with disabilities, children and people flagged as a suicide risk.
People in wheelchairs are on the 18th floor, in the event of a fire, it will be easier to get those people out of the block”
A total of 24 tower blocks in Salford failed fire safety tests, commissioned after the Grenfell fire in London.
Salford tenants have been living with this dangerous cladding for over a year.
Following these concerns, Pendleton Together released a statement last week saying that they have found the money to replace the cladding and the project would take place over the next two years.
Pendleton Together and Salford City Council declined to comment.
