ON National Voter Registration Day, Max Merrill took a look at what action is being taken by the Students’ Union.
Hundreds of thousands of students are missing from the electoral register and numbers are alarmingly low at the University of Salford.
At the start of the month, the University of Salford Students’ Union (USSU) released figures stating that of 1,400 residents in Peel Park Quarters only 32 were registered to vote.
The USSU has now run a campaign to get more students registered and is in talks with Salford City Council about opening a polling station on campus ahead of the next local elections.
