Artist Nadya Lamar celebrated the joy of giving at an exhibition in Boothstown Community Centre.
Nadya, a contemporary artist who specialises in emotionally expressive abstract paintings, hosted the Christmas art fair on Sunday with the emphasis on creativity and healing.
“It means a lot because its just this time of the year,” Nayda said.
“It’s all about joy and giving, and if people can give a piece of art then that is something which for me means the world, and hopefully for the people receiving it as well.”
Originally from France, Nadya worked as a translator after moving to Salford from Russia a few years ago. She decided to fully pursue her passion in art in 2022, after a period of hardship and isolation.
She said: “I like to say I had to put the fun back into functioning, because I was only functioning.”
The event included a display of the artist’s vibrant and emotional paintings, along with complementary champagne and chocolates. There was also a prize draw to win a two-person art workshop with Nadya worth £150.
Nadya said her mission is to help people reconnect with their playful, joyful selves, one painting, one workshop, and one beautifully transformed room at a time.
“My paintings are an ode to transformation; a celebration of the moment you remember your softness after life tried to harden you,” she said.
With her bold colours and abstract work, Nadya is creating art for other sensitive souls, deep feelers and survivors.
Her transformation of the power of personal resilience into her paintings resonates with her audience and has grown a number of collectors and a successful business.
She said: “It’s just expressing my emotions, and it’s definitely like therapy. It is just so therapeutic, and that’s the joy I get in creating. I hope people can feel the joy.”
