A boxing school in Eccles is hosting an amateur boxing show tonight.
The event is taking place on December 3, with doors opening at 6:30pm, on the top floor of Bridgewater Mill in Eccles.
The owner and head coach, Brian Gardner urged people to attend, and said: “Attending the boxing show is part and parcel of showcasing up and coming boxers and it also allows us to put these shows on.
“What people don’t see is the time and effort put into these shows and the expense it costs. We have to pay for referees, doctors, supervisors, trophies and officials which don’t come cheap, and MC and the electricity for the gym. It helps us to raise valuable funds and support for the gym to keep it open for the community.”
The boxing starts at 7pm and is £15 for entry. With fighters from ages 10 to adults, female and male, and come from all different backgrounds.
Brian described how many people are involved: “We have lots of people involved, from; match makers for the fight, coaches who help with the show, staff behind the counter serving drinks and snacks, staff at the door taking ticket money and stamping spectators hands.
“My team organises these to showcase our boxers and to show the dedication time and effort the boxers have for this sport. Some of these boxers are children still at school, so they are juggling school, work and training and the same with the adults who can have families and work commitments and still attend the gym to train.”
The boxing school cater for individuals of all levels and ability, for those just starting off in boxing right through to the more experienced. They have classes available from reception age children all the way up to adults, for all levels of fitness and experience.
These classes run nightly Monday to Friday. The classes take place in their large Gym with 2 boxing rings, a variety of free weights and training equipment.
