Luke Littler, Michelle Agyemang and Davina Perrin have all been nominated for the BBC’s Young Sports Personality of the Year, which is set to take place in Media City this December.

The trio have all been recognised for their achievements over the course of 2025, with Littler winning the World Darts Championship for the first time, Agyemang helping the Lionesses to the Euros title and Perrin rising to prominence after a record-breaking innings.

Littler, 18, won the award last year, becoming the first darts player to do so after his breakthrough year, where he made it to the final of the World Darts Championship on debut and reached number two in the world.

The three contenders were announced live on Greg James’ Radio One Breakfast show, with the shortlist compiled by the same panel that will also decide the winner, which will be revealed on Thursday, 18th December, live from Media City for the fifth time.

Littler, nicknamed the Nuke, became the youngest darts world champion in history at the beginning of 2025 with a convincing 7-3 win over three-time champion Michael van Gerwen, before the Warrington-born sensation won the World Matchplay title, hitting a nine darter on route and becoming one of only five players to achieve darts’ triple crown – the World Matchplay, World Championships and Premier League.

The Nuke also won the UK Open, Belgian Darts Open and Grand Prix, before becoming world number one by reaching the final of the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton, which he also won, beating his predecessor at top spot Luke Humphries 16-11.

Littler said: “Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year again is a big honour. Last year’s win was a proud moment for me and I’ve had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts and bringing new fans into the sport.”

Agyemang, 19, had a summer to remember as just three months after making her international debut, she rose to prominence after coming off the bench to score in the quarter-finals against Sweden and most dramatically in the semi-finals against Italy in the sixth minute of added time to book the Lionesses’ place in the final against Spain, which England won.

The striker was named Young Player of the Tournament and also won the Golden Girl award, which is awarded to the best young player in Europe. Since, Agyemang has moved to Brighton on loan from Arsenal for a second successive season. She sadly ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) playing internationally in October.

Agyemang said: “Being on the shortlist for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year is an honour. I thank God and I’m appreciative of the support I’ve received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans. I appreciate you all.”

Perrin, 19, is seen as one of cricket’s brightest young stars, rising to notability after a record-breaking 42-ball hundred for the Northern Superchargers in the Hundred, which is the fastest by an English woman in the short-form game. She went on to finish second in the run-scoring charts in the T20 Blast.

Perrin said: “I’m truly honoured to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award. It’s a very special feeling and I hope it inspires more young females to get into cricket.”

Past winners of the award include skateboarder Sky Brown, footballers Wayne Rooney and Phil Foden and diver Tom Daley, who has won the award on three occasions.

The show will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 19:00 GMT.
