In a new scheme unveiled by the Salford City Football Club, fans will be able to write and send Christmas cards to the teams’ players during the festive period.
All fans would need to do is go to the club shop on Moor Lane and post their Christmas card through the box in the shop. There will also be another post box pop in Buck’s Bar – a fan bar at the Peninsula stadium on matchdays.
We spoke to some local Salford residents to find out what they thought about the new scheme.
Salford resident Douglas James was happy with the clubs new plan saying “It’s great that the club is involving fans, especially around Christmas time”.
“I think it’s great, it’s going to help get young kids in sport,” said Finley McNicholas, another Salford resident, in support of the scheme’s engagement with young people.
Fans simply need to include their name, age and the name of the player they’re writing to.
Fans can also send a card to first team manager Karl Robinson.
The reactions to these cards will be put in a social media video for Salford City that will be released on Christmas Day.
Fans have until the 16th of December to post their letters.
