An annual Christmas light show taking place at one of Salford’s most popular gardens is back and it’s bigger than ever.

RHS Bridgewater, a historic 154-acre garden in Worsley, has been lit up for the festive season with the return of its yearly Glow winter illuminations.

With 13 new additions, the curators say the event is “as magical as ever” and welcome families to enjoy the host of Christmas-themed events taking place on RHS Bridgewater’s picturesque grounds.

With several food and drink stalls dotted along an illuminated walking trail connecting the stables and the Bridgewater café, visitors can indulge in a festive snack while enjoying the Christmas lights.

RHS Bridgewater Glow began on 26 November and runs until 30 December, and on opening night it was packed with families from across Salford. Out of the numerous activities taking place, the marshmellow toasting proved especially popular.

It did not disappoint and created an atmosphere no better suited to Christmas than Santa’s workshop.

Soundtracked to a medley of Christmas music, the garden was transformed into an enchanting winter wonderland, with displays at every turn and even a swing allowing for fun for all members of the family.

Halfway through the trail there was a display from a ‘gardener’ which focused on the use of lights in and around his gazebo too.

Taking around an hour to walk the whole route there are stops for snacks throughout and plenty of photo opportunities.

A Salford resident attending the event said that it ‘”far exceeded expectations” and was “worth a visit for anyone who can make it.”

RHS Bridgewater is accessible for eveyone and standard tickets for the lights show start at £13 and are free for children under five years old.

RHS Glow has been open since 2021 and continues to illuminate Salford throughout the winter months and organisers say they hope the event will spread Christmas cheer for many more years.
