An Irlam church is hosting a Christmas fair to raise money for roof repairs.
St Teresa of Avila and St Joseph the Worker Catholic Parish on Astley Road in Irlam has had a broken roof since previous works failed to fix it.
Organiser Lesley Mcquaid says they are aiming to raise as much money as they can for the roof.
She said: “It’s been damaged for a while. It is leaking in. It’s really bad.
“It’s important to raise money because we don’t want to lose the church, and if we can’t afford to have it fixed, we won’t know what will happen.”

The Christmas fair on November 22 from 12 to 4 pm will feature a Santa’s grotto, made by one of the members of the congregation, a tombola, a hook a duck, a church gift stall, a children’s toy raffle, a teddy tombola, bracelet making and ‘message to loved ones’ written in a balloon.
The fair will also include hotdogs, sandwiches, cakes in the café as well as a homemade cake stall.
Lesley urged people to join in to meet old friends and new, grab a bargain and have some good old-fashioned fun.
She said: “The community is very friendly and welcoming.
“Come and join us for this extravaganza of fun, food, music, Santa’s grotto, stalls games, tombola and much more help us to make the season bright and support our much needed fundraising event.”
