Crowds gathered throughout Salford yesterday, November nine, to pay respects to the brave veterans who gave their lives for their countries.
Hosted by Salford City Council, Services and communities paraded through Salford. The march started outside The Old Pint Pot pub on the A6 and headed down to Salford Cenotaph for the Remembrance Sunday Service.
Veterans Anthony, Richard and Roy attended The Sunday Service and expressed their gratitude for Remembrance Day events.
Anthony reflected on what November 11th means to them: “It’s to remember for the wars, First World War, Second World War and wars before that even.
“It’s very important in our hearts.
“We remember the past and the present soldiers who have died”

Veteran Richard Beddingfield, reflected on the groups history together and joked about their unbreakable relationship: “we’ve been together now for 40 years, and we’ve never fallen out once… only when it’s our round!”
Talking about The Service, Roy conveyed how for the veterans: “It’s all about respect for those who have gone before us”
The Two Minute Silence was initiated on the eleventh hour, sounded by the Bugler’s trumpet to “Last Post”. Crowds stood in attention for the silence commemorating those who have died at the hands of war until the Bugler’s rendition of “Reveille”.
The Service consisted of hymns, prayers, readings and poems conducted by The Reverend Canon Andy Salmon from Sacred Trinity Church in Salford.
The parade started at 10:15 am where Royal British Legion veterans and Armed Forces serving personnel paced through the streets and assembled at Albert Bentley Place.

November 11th, Remembrance Day, marks the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of when World War One ended. The Second Sunday of November known as Remembrance Sunday, is also when ceremonies take place across the UK for people to pay their respects for those lost in war.
After the Service, The Civic Party were the first to lay Poppy Wreaths on The Cenotaph before returning to their seats and encouraging people to then lay their own.

The morning was concluded by the National Anthem and the Parade and personnel turning back and marching back up to the start.
