Salford’s voluntary sector is to receive nearly £1million from Greater Manchester Live Well Implementation Support Fund.

City Mayor Paul Dennett approved the allocation of £941,000 funding allocated to Salford.

Half goes to the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector (VCSE) which will be used by Salford CVS to support the ‘places’ element of its work.

The other half will be invested in the Wellbeing Matters social prescribing programme, managed by Salford CVS.

The money will help deliver on the city’s priorities.

The first is the prevention programme, which aims to build and strengthen prevention and early intervention across the city, working with partners and communities.

The second is the Ignite programme, which aims to deliver a new targeted prevention model for adult social care to prevent, reduce and delay the need for a Care Act assessment.

The third workstream is the Salford Locality Health and Care Neighbourhoods Transformation Group, which aims to deliver safer, effective and integrated neighbourhood services (as part of the NHS’s Ten Year Health Plan).

The fourth is the council’s work implementing the Greater Manchester Economic Inactivity Trailblazer programme, through Elevate Salford and the Salford Employment Hub, which is delivering positive results in supporting more people on a pathway into work.

The final workstream is the council’s WorkWell Vanguard Service, which is providing evidence-based support to individuals with their occupational health needs and to overcome barriers to work.
