Global leaders, designers and developers are set to descend on Salford for a global forum discussing creating healthy and sustainable cities.
The ninth running of the Healthy City Design International Congress will take place at The Lowry Theatre on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 October.
Here, global leaders, investors and developers will come together under one roof to explore how cities can evolve to support human and environmental wellbeing.
It has been described by organisers as a “platform for exchanging ideas, discussing research and policy, and developing innovative practices and core competencies for creating urban environments and infrastructure that support physical and mental wellbeing, health equity, and planetary health.”
The event, produced in collaboration with Salford City Council, aims to directly benefit communities by producing plans for development with welfare in mind.
Founding director of Healthy City Design, Marc Sansom said: “In a time of challenging social and political disconnection, it is more important than ever to give communities a voice in how their cities are being planned.”
Therme Manchester has been announced as a Social Values Partner for the Healthy City Design 2025 International Congress.
The global developer, owner and operator of next-generation wellbeing destinations says its mission is to make wellbeing accessible and enjoyable for all. They run large-scale urban resorts that integrate nature, sustainable design and cultural programming to improve individual and collective wellbeing.
Professor David Russell, CEO of Therme UK, said: “We wanted our partnership with the Healthy City Design to go beyond the old-fashioned sponsorship model.
“By supporting 20 local community members to attend, we are ensuring that voices which really matter to the future of urban wellbeing are heard. For us, this is about building healthier, more human cities – starting with people.”
