Bus strikes are set to impact services across Salford, just weeks after the last round of industrial action took place.

Stagecoach and Metroline have confirmed further bus strikes for 38, 50, 51 and 248 will be taking place on Friday 10 October, Saturday 11 October and Monday 13 October.

Unite the Union confirmed drivers at First have called off further action, voting for a revised pay offer. However, the strikes will still take place this weekend.

This comes after an eleventh-hour over a new pay deal fell through in September, leaving Services in Walkden, Swinton, Eccles, Pendleton and Ordsall impacted by strikes.

Last month, the Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham, issued a plea for industrial action plans to be dripped as he urged Metroline staff “to avert any strike action” which impacted 130 bus routes.

The October strikes are expected to impact more of Greater Manchester, with 190 services involved in the strikes, including some dedicated school buses. Trams are confirmed to be running.

Chief Network Officer at TfGM, Danny Vaughan, said, “While we are pleased that planned industrial action by First staff has been called off, we encourage Stagecoach, Metroline and Unite to continue discussions to avert further strike action.”

We’ll continue to keep passengers informed and support them to make journeys wherever possible.”

Unite has also indicated that further action may be taken on Saturday, 18, Thursday, 23 and Friday, 24 if pay negotiations are not concluded.
