Award-winning production The Red Shoes will take the stage in Salford this November as it returns for a UK tour.
For the first time since it’s 2020 tour, Matthew Bourne’s production of The Red Shoes, based on the Hans Christian Anderson fairytale, will return to UK stages with a 2025/2026 tour.

The production will visit The Lowry from Tuesday 25 to Saturday 29 November, after opening it’s tour at Plymouth Theatre Royal.
With music from Hollywood composer Bernard Herrmann, The Red Shoes is a dazzling and captivating ballet that delves into the tragedy of ambition and desire.
Following the story of ambitious dancer Victoria ‘Vicky’ Page (Ashley Shaw, Cordelia Braithwaite, Hannah Kremer and Holly Saw) and the conflict between the men who fall in love with her, The Red Shoes is an intoxicating drama of dreams and reality.
The Red Shoes won Best Entertainment at the 2017 Olivier Awards, with Matthew Bourne winning Best Theatre Choreographer.

Matthew Bourne said: “The Red Shoes was the culmination of a twenty-year ambition to bring Powell and Pressburger’s seminal 1948 film to the stage. It was also, in many ways, a personal love letter to a life in theatre and dance.

“This production was certainly a landmark event for New Adventures, becoming an instant classic and a beloved addition to our repertoire.
“Welcome back to the Ballet Lermontov and to paraphrase the great impresario himself… ‘It’s time to put on the red shoes, Vicky, and dance for us again.’”
This play is suitable for seven years and above.
