Peel Green is set for a £20 million transformation thanks to Government regeneration funding for the Salford neighbourhood.

The money will be released over the next decade as part of the government’s £5 billion Pride in Place programme, which focuses on improving communities through local leadership.

The investment aims to tackle local challenges, improve public spaces and boost economic activity.

Residents will be at the heart of the plans, working alongside Salford City Council and community organisations to decide how the money is spent.

Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett called the announcement a turning point for the area.

“This funding is a game-changer for Peel Green. We would like to thank the government for this vital cash injection,” he said.

“It gives us the opportunity to work with local residents to help shape the area for the better and make a real difference. We will now seek the views of local residents and make sure every pound spent reflects their wishes.”

Peel Green is the second neighbourhood in Salford to secure major government funding this year. In June, Pendleton was awarded up to £20 million through the government’s £1.5 billion Plan for Neighbourhoods Programme.

Together, the two projects underline Salford’s growing role in the government’s regeneration drive, aimed at giving communities more control over their future.

The announcement was made on Thursday, 25 September, by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
