Kallum Cesay’s late winner earned Salford a dramatic 3-2 win against Swindon Town, to put themselves second in the league.
A rainy Saturday afternoon at the Peninsula stadium started in great fashion for the Ammies.
A breathtaking Jorge Grant strike inside five minutes gave Salford the lead. The Ammies midfielder opened his account in Salford colours and rifled the ball on the half-volley into the top right corner.

Momentum continued with Salford, with challenges flying in from both sides, this set the fiery tone of the game early on.
In the 15th minute, the Ammies regained possession in the Swindon half, a lovely through ball from Dan Udoh set up Kadeem Harris, who took a touch and passed the ball into the bottom right corner to give Salford a two-goal lead.
The only real chance for Swindon in the half came in the 20th minute, when a lovely through ball from Finely Munroe played Ollie Palmer through, but the striker’s shot was straight at Matty Young.
A yellow card for Munroe ended a fantastic half of football for Salford with a two goal advantage.
Swindon started the second half the better side, holding more possession. Their pressure paid off in the 54th minute, Aaron Drinan’s header gave Swindon a well deserved goal to bring the game to 2-1.
A flurry of dangerous chances came and went as both side’s pressed for a goal. Daniel Udoh missed a golden opportunity to restore Salford’s two goal lead when he powered a volley at goalkeeper Connor Ripley, before Daniel Butterworth struck narrowly wide from a tight angle as the visitors pressed for an equaliser.
Swindon found a breakthrough 83 minutes when a free kick dropped into the box and a scramble in the 6 yard box resulted in a tap-in from Jamie Knight-Lebel to bring the game level with 10 minutes to go.

With both teams looking for the winner, a through ball was played into the feet of Swindon Midfielder Butterworth, who was one on one with the goalkeeper. The 772 Swindon fans in attendance held their breath as his shot slid past the post and wide.
With 7 added minutes left, the Ammies forced a break with Harris on the left hand side. Harris lofted the ball into the box where it was met by Jay Bird. The substitute’s powerful header was spilled by goalkeeper Connor Ripley. Cesay met the ball and smashed it home to seal the three points for Salford.
The stadium erupted and the hard-fought win was secured for Salford. With owners and previous England internationals, David Beckham and Gary Neville in attendance, alongside 3,095 fans.
Another sensational performance by Udoh as two assists brings his tally to six goals and assists in three games.
Salford leapfrogged their opponents and now sit 2nd in the league. Their next game, the Ammies will make the trip to Bristol to play mid-table side Bristol Rovers in hopes of making it four league wins in a row.
