Salford City will return to league action at the Peninsula Stadium this weekend as they are set to play Tranmere Rovers.
Karl Robinson’s squad is now bolstered after the transfer window closed, with the arrival of striker Dan Udoh completing our summer business, and Saturday will be the first chance to see the squad in the league.
The Ammies will be approaching the game in good spirits, being able to bounce-back from their draw against Cheltenham with a strong win over Wigan Athletic.
Second half goals from Ollie Turton and Cole Stockton earned the Ammies three points against a young Wigan side, while a number of players were able to gain some important playing minutes.
Nonetheless, Salford will be coming into the game looking to continue this form and reassert themselves back into the playoff positions.
But without a win in their last two league fixtures, losing 1-0 to Walsall and drawing 1-1 to Cheltenham, the Ammies will need a win to put them back in contention of doing so.
However, this will be no easy task as Karl Robinsons’ side will be facing a strong Tranmere Rovers, who will also be looking to push themselves back up the league table.
With a game in hand over the Ammies, Tranmere only sit two points behind them in the league table.
The club from Birkenhead have only picked up one defeat in the league so far this season, losing 2-1 to Notts County last time out.
And with nine goals from their opening five games, Andy Crosby’s side has proved that they are not a team to take lightly.
Despite this, the Ammies will walk into the fixture high in confidence after their midweek win – and with home support they will aim that the “12th man” will make the difference.
And with the strong additions made over the summer transfer window, and especially new forward Dan Udoh, Salford will be hoping to leave with all three points.
The game will kick off at 3pm at the Peninsula Stadium with more information about the fixture found here.
