From dance troupes, sports clubs and gardening groups the finalists for the annual Springboard Heroes Awards have been announced.

The annual awards have been hosted by Salix Homes, who have been awarding grants to groups and projects in Salford that are making a real difference in communities.

The landlord, which owns 8,000 homes across Salford, has donated more than £33,000 to dozens of local groups and initiatives as part of its Springboard community grant programme this year.

And this year is no different, with the finalists for the Springboard Heroes Awards 2025 being Alberts of Salford, Red Hot Flames, and Salford City Radio.

Alberts of Salford is a safe, inclusive sporting facility at Albert Park in Lower Broughton, used weekly by more than 600 people, bringing the community together and plays a vital role in improving health and wellbeing.

While Red Hot Flames, are a vibrant cheer, dance and gymnastics group for young people.

The cheer, dance, and gymnastic company regularly represent Salford on the international stage and continue to promote confidence, resilience, and teamwork through sport.

And the third finalist is Salford City Radio, the future of this much-loved community radio station hangs in the balance, with urgent funding and support needed to keep it on air.

Run by volunteers, it gives diverse voices a platform and provides them with a sense of purpose, community and support.

And with the finalists for the Springboard Heroes Awards 2025 selected its over to the public to vote for their favourite.

The winning project, selected by the community will receive an extra £1,000 cash boost.

Liam Turner, Chief Executive at Salix Homes, said: “Through our Springboard programme, we’re proud to support grassroots groups and projects that make a real difference across Salford, bringing people together, improving wellbeing and providing vital lifelines in our communities.

“The Springboard Heroes Awards are our way of shining a spotlight on and supporting some of these incredible projects.

Liam continued: “From inspiring young people and promoting healthier lifestyles, to giving local voices a platform and tackling loneliness, this year’s finalists are a fantastic showcase of community spirit in action.

“We’d encourage everyone to get involved, cast their vote, and help crown our Springboard Heroes for 2025.”

Residents will be able to learn more about the finalists and cast their votes here – with voting closing on Tuesday 23 September.

The winners will be announced soon after on Salix Homes Facebook page.
