Salford City will host bottom of the league Cheltenham Town this Friday, as they look to return to winning ways.
After picking up nine points from a possible 15, Salford will be hoping to bounce-back at home against a Cheltenham side who currently sit bottom of the league.
Last time out, Walsall beat Karl Robinsons’ side away from home, 1-0, ending their nine-match winning streak away from home.
Harrison Burke’s headed goal midway through the first half ultimately decided a tight affair, where the Ammies had the better of the possession, but Walsall had the better of the chances.
And if it weren’t from the heroics from goalkeeper Matty Young, the scoreline could have been higher.
But nonetheless, the Ammies will be walking into fixture and looking at it as a good chance to regain their winning momentum.
After the defeat to Walsall on Saturday 23 August, Head Coach Karl Robinson shared that improvements will be made to his squad for this fixture.
He said: “I just know that we need a lot more in certain areas of the pitch as a football club, we know that.
“So, I think the next seven days is probably more important to us. Now this game is done, it’s now about action.”
He continued: “We’re going to get better, and we’ve probably got five or six players still not available and still not in the building to add to the quality we already have.
“I think it’s going to be a very, very exciting season.”
Salford’s chances to make it a very exciting seem more than likely when they come up against a team who have failed to score in all but one of their seven games this season.
Cheltenham have struggled to get their season underway, with seven consecutive defeats in all competitions, but could make them a threat as they are desperately searching for points.
However, with Salford City strengthening their back line this week with the addition of Brandon Cooper will certainly look to dampen the goalscoring chances that Cheltenham will be looking to create.
Salford nonetheless will be looking to end the opening month of the season on a high and lift themselves back up the table.
The Ammies will kick off 19.45pm at the Peninsula Stadium this Friday 29 August – with more information about the game found here.
