Agecroft Cemetery has fully opened, with services continuing as normal following the water leak on Langley Road.
Salford City Council have shared that the cemetery has reopened, whilst United Utilities deal with the leak, with road closures set to be in place for seven to 10 days.
During this time, council have been receiving calls from concerned members of the public after a water leak, which has meant that Langley Road South has had to be closed.
And due to the road closure, diversions have been put in place – with the cemetery also receiving a major clean up.
The major clean-up operation was swiftly carried out after flooding within the cemetery, and all water and debris has now been removed.
Following the water leak and subsequent flooding only 10 graves or memorials sustained minor damage, with council officers arranging repairs, and contacting affected families.
Salford City Council have shared that if you are not contacted, you can be assured that your loved one’s grave or memorial was not impacted.
Councillor Barbara Bentham, Lead Member for Neighbourhoods, Environment and Community Safety at Salford City Council said: “We just want to reassure people that the cemetery is open and operating as normal as we have been receiving a lot of calls of concern.
“We will keep people informed as the leak is dealt with and continue to provide further updates.”
