And United Utilities provided an update on their website today at 8.58am and said: “Due to the location of the leak on Langley Road, our teams need to work closely with other organisations to make the area safe to continue with repairs.

“Your water should be flowing however your pressure may be fluctuating or lower than normal, we’re really sorry about this.

“We’re aware that some customers have noticed their water appears discoloured. This has happened because of a disturbance in the water mains in your area.”

They continued: “Historical sediments that have built up over time in the water pipe have been disturbed causing discolouration to your water.

“This normally happens when we have carried out a repair or have replaced a section of water main.

“We know it doesn’t look nice but don’t worry, it’s unlikely to be harmful and will settle down again with time. You can help by letting your cold-water tap run at a slight trickle until your water runs clear again.”

Residents in the area have also been given advice about the discoloured water here.

Further updates will be provided when are updated on the situation.
