Salford Community Stadium - Salford City Council

Salford Red Devils have cancelled Sunday’s fixture against Wakefield Trinity.

But a planned peaceful protest by supporters is going ahead as fans demand a rescue plan for the stricken club.

Of the 17 players available, only two senior players had featured at Super League level over the  past 12 months making it unsafe to field a team.

The club made the decision ‘reluctantly’ following significant concerns regarding player welfare in consultation with the Rugby Football League, RL Commercial and Rugby League Cares.

Eleven members of the first-grade team are currently injured.

A number of those are expected to be available for Salford’s next scheduled fixture against Leigh Leopards.

The club have brought in numerous loan players from opposing Super League teams, and have thanked the clubs for their help during these “testing times”.

All ticket holders will be contacted via the email address given at the point of purchase with further updates.

More information about the cancelled fixture can be found here.
