Broughton Park area

Residents around the Broughton Park area are being asked to share their views on the proposal for a Parish Council or other community governance arrangements.

The consultation was launched on Monday 16 June 2025 and has been created by Salford City Council in response to a proposal to create a Parish Council for the area.

The proposal was created through a supported petition, which was submitted on Wednesday 12 February 2025.

This would mean that the council is legally required to undertake a Community Governance Review to consult with local people on the proposal before a decision is made.

Located in the east of the city, the Broughton Park area includes parts of the Kersal and Broughton Park ward and parts of the Boughton ward.

Residents in the area will have the opportunity to complete the survey is Monday 15 September 2025.

Two information events have been hosted so far, one held on Wednesday 25 June, and the other on Wednesday 23 July.

Residents are being encouraged to participate in the online events – and are also invited to the final information event that will take place at Broughton Hub, 50 Rigby Street, Salford, M7 4BQ on Tuesday 19 August 2025 from 12pm to 4pm.

Community governance refers to how local communities are represented and governed at a local level.

It involves organising local services and activities through the participation of residents, businesses, voluntary and community groups, along with others partners such as Salford City Council.

Surjit Tour, City Solicitor and Statutory Monitoring Officer at Salford City Council commented: “To ensure everyone in the area aged 18 and over has an opportunity to have their say, we are writing to everyone who lives or has a business in the affected area, setting out how they can respond.

“Locally based community and voluntary groups are also invited to take part by responding to the consultation survey.”

Surjit continued: “Everyone is encouraged to respond to the survey digitally if they can and if they need support, they can call into Broughton Hub for help from one of our friendly advisors.

“All survey responses along with other evidence, will then be carefully considered before recommendations are made.”

Salford residents will be encouraged to participate in the online survey by Monday 15 September 2025 and are invited to the information event that will take place at Broughton Hub, 50 Rigby Street, Salford, M7 4BQ.
