Salford City will look to get back to winning ways this weekend after their EFL cup exit against Accrington Stanley.
The Ammies were eliminated midweek from the Carabao Cup by Rotherham United, however, were not beaten by the League One side in 90 minutes.
Karl Robinsons’ side unfortunately missed three penalties, but had the chances throughout the game to advance in the competition, but were unfortunatley kept at a stalemate.
However, despite being knocked out, the draw will give them a lot of confidence going into the weekendm – proving that they are capable with competing with teams who were in the Championship only two seasons ago.
And after picking up their first league win of the campaign away at Notts County last weekend, the Ammies will be hoping to build on that when their Lancashire neighbours visit M7.
However, the fixture will not be an easy affair – with their weekend opponents coming in the game full of confidence after beating Peterborough 2-1 in the Carabao Cup.
Accrington Stanley will hoping to maintain this winning momentum and pick up their first league win of the season – having drawn 1-1 with Gillingham and losing 2-0 to Crewe Alexandra.
The Reds league form will be a concern for the travelling away fans – however, after a huge win for the club on Tuesday night, Salford will have to be prepared for a difficult fixture.
And Salford will be keen to avoid a repeat of last season’s 2-1 home defeat to Accrington — a result that ended a seven-game unbeaten run.
Nonetheless, this promises to be an exciting fixture for both sets of supporters.
With the season still in its early stages and plenty to play for, both teams will be eager to make a strong statement in their League Two campaigns as they battle it out at the Peninsula Stadium this weekend.
And the Ammies will kickoff against their M7 neighbours at 3pm on Saturday 16 August – more information can be found here.
