A £3.4 million Irlam development has delivered 20 new homes for social rent.
The 10 one-bedroom flats and 10 two-bedroom flats on Allotment Road were built by ForHousing in partnership with Collaborative Living.
External funding of £1.5 million was secured from Homes England, along with £200,000 from a Greater Manchester Combined Authority Brownfield grant.
Councillor Tracy Kelly, Statutory Deputy City Mayor and Lead Member for Housing and Anti-Poverty, said: “There’s a clear need for more affordable housing across Salford.
“This development will make a real difference, providing local people with high-quality, energy-efficient homes where they can thrive.”
She continued: “As Salford continues to grow, it’s essential that we plan for the future.
“This project combines affordability, quality, and sustainability to deliver homes that will serve local people for generations to come.”
The homes were designed by Jennings Design Architects and built using timber frame throughout as a sustainable and energy-efficient material.
Executive director of homes at ForHousing, Nigel Sedman, said: “Our work is about much more than housing.
“It’s about regenerating places like Irlam and building stronger communities, and we’re proud to play a part in delivering homes that make a lasting difference.”
He added: “Allotment Road is part of our long-term investment in Salford – supporting the council’s strategic housing priorities, helping to ease pressure on social housing waiting lists, and ensuring more people have access to safe, affordable homes.”
