Plans submitted for 124 homes in Eccles

Plans have been submitted to transform the former site of a Vauxhall car dealership into 124 new homes in Eccles.

The redevelopment would be six storeys high featuring a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments and townhouses off Albert Street and Peel Street.

Cert Property has lodged proposals for the 0.66-acre plot that would deliver 63 one-bed apartments, 48 with two bedrooms, 11 two-bed townhouses and a pair of three-bed duplexes.

The developed area would have a residential entrance and lounge area, cycle storage and a workshop on the ground floor.

The form of the building enables the creation of a shared landscaped community garden within a courtyard.

The plans include road and pavement improvements – with two raised zebra crossings, dropped kerbs on Albert Street and Peel Street and widened pavements around the site.

The location has close links to public transport with the nearby tram station, and the Eccles train station – as well as the M602.

The planned development sits on the western edge of Eccles town centre, with supermarkets, medical facilities and retail units within easy walking distance.

The plans coincide with Salford City Council’s strategic regeneration if the town.

Work is underway to demolish Eccles Shopping Centre, which the council bought in 2022, the disused multi-storey car park and Eccles Market Hall, ahead of redevelopment.

The housing plan is scheduled to be considered by Salford council on October 21. – with more information being found via the planning application.
