Tram travel affected by Oasis

Salford residents should expect significant disruption to the transport network ahead of the final run of Oasis gigs this week.

Disruptions are to be expected this week, as the Oasis Live ’25 tour will continue on Wednesday 16 July, and the last two performances will take place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July.

And with Transport for Greater Manchester expecting more than 300,000 fans across the five-night tour, residents are encouraged to plan ahead of their journeys.

Ahead of  tonight’s performance (Wednesday 16 July), those commuting from work may experience higher congestion on buses and trams due to fans travelling to Heaton Park.

A spokesperson from the Bee Network shared on X: “Roads and tram services to Heaton Park will be very busy from 4pm until 6pm. If travelling in the area, expect severe delays.”

Huge numbers are also expected in the area, with many Salford and surrounding roads and transport – especially with no tram service operating via Piccadilly Gardens due to engineering works until 10 August.

Ahead of the events TfGM have shared that in order to safely manage crowd for the Oasis concerts changes will be made to the Metrolink services including those coming from Salford.

The Eccles service will operate to Cornbrook during this period – with passengers having to use the Rochdale to East Didsbury line to change trams in the city centre to continue their journey.

Salford residents and drivers will also be advised to use the inner ring road (Trinity Way) on both days this weekend, with planned works taking place on Chapel Street and New Bailey Street, which will be in place until Spring 2026.

Residents in the area can also expect further delays this weekend (Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July) as Billie Eilish will perform at the Co-op Live.

As well as the increase of visitors for Billie Eilish, the AO Arena will be hosting Paw Patrol, attracting crowds of over 20,000, which is expected to increase congestion across the city centre on both nights.

With a busy network expected for the remainder of the week across Greater Manchester, TfGM have advised “all those affected by congestion in the city centre to re-route or re-time their journey, or to work from home if possible.”
