A man from Salford has been charged with a public order offence following chaotic scenes on Lower Broughton Road earlier this month.

Robert Service of Weaste Road, Salford, has been charged with Section 4A Public Order and has been remanded into custody ahead of a scheduled appearance at Manchester Magistrates Court today (Thursday 26 June 2025).

This charge relates to disorder on Lower Broughton Road in Salford on Wednesday 11 June 2025, when vehicles were set on fire and driven in an erratic manner. Police issued dispersal notices at the time and subsequently charged several people with public order offences.

Detective Chief Inspector Helen Bagnall, from Salford District, said: “As promised, our investigation has gone from strength to strength and has seen us make 13 arrests so far, and charge four people.

“The afternoon and subsequent evening of disorder was completely unacceptable and we have continued to work hard to identify individuals who were key contributors to the scenes that day.

“We are still appealing for information in relation to the disorder – any witnesses or footage including CCTV, dash cam and Ring doorbell footage can call police on 0161 856 5127. Alternatively, you can report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
