salford grand opening

Salford landmark youth zone has announced its grand opening date with everyone in the community being welcomed for an “unforgettable celebration”.

The Salford Youth Zone (SYZ) will open its doors for the official grand opening on Saturday 5 July.

The landmark facility is welcoming “as many people from across the Salford community as possible to join” in a one-of-a-kind free experience.

The Grand Opening will be open from 11am to 3pm, with guest speeches and a ribbon cutting expected at 12pm.

SYZ said: “This is more than an opening — this is the beginning of a brand-new chapter for young people in Salford.

“Come and be part of a milestone moment for young people and families from across the Salford community.”

SYZ began construction in early 2024, after receiving planning approval in October 2023 – and has been developing with the intention of benefitting the younger generation in the community.

And with investment, and support from a growing list of patron donations, the SYZ will be open seven days a week offering twenty different activities a night.

Opportunities will be on offer in and around the building with an abundance of activities for thousands in the community.

The site is adjacent to Belvedere Road and Broadwalk in Pendleton, providing opportunities such as health and wellbeing support, outdoor education, and an exciting climbing wall.

The facility will also offer resources to young people, such as the chance to explore music studios, multimedia suites, and a sports hall – with every single room having an intend purpose of supporting the future of the city.

SYZ will be open, 52 weeks of the year for those aged 8-19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs – and with over 20 activities every night for just 50p, a large number of visitors are expected to attend the Salford Youth Zone.

To mark the beginning of the SYZ, the event will be hosted on Saturday 5 July and will be completely free to attend.
