Salford residents are urged to plan ahead for journeys as over 110,000 people are expected to travel to Parklife and other weekend events.
Residents travelling from Salford can expected busier transport network this weekend, as Manchester’s biggest music festival takes place at Heaton Park on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 June.
This weekend will see over 110,000 people travel to see Parklife headliners 50 Cent and Charli XCX, with events at Co-op Live and Old Trafford making for a busy weekend on the transport network.
And anyone travelling at the weekend can expect roads and public transport be busier than usual, with events at the Co-op Live (Jeff Dunham on Saturday 14 June and Chris Brown on Sunday 15 June) and the return of Soccer Aid at Old Trafford also on Sunday.
And with the weekend roads, and public transport expected to busy – residents are encouraged to plan ahead.
The Bee Network also made the reminder that no trams are running from Piccadilly Station to city centre stops due to essential track improvement works.
The work is expected to take place between Tuesday, 3 June and Sunday, 10 August. Normal tram services resume on Monday 11 August.
During this period, the Eccles services (via MediaCityUK) will run only to Victoria via Market Street.
This will impact those travelling at the weekend as the Bee Network are encouraging those heading to Parklife – to get the tram to the site from Victoria station.
And trams from Altrincham will terminate and turn back at Exchange Square, meaning anyone wanting to journey on toward Heaton Park will need to get off and make the short walk to Victoria.

“This kicks off with Parklife and we want to make sure everyone has a great time and gets around easily and safely.”
He continued: “It will certainly be a busy weekend with events across the city.
“So, for everyone looking to get out and about over the weekend, please plan ahead, check the Bee Network app for travel updates on the day and have a safe journey.”
Salford residents travelling to the festival can now also get their hands on a Parklife travel pass for use on any Bee Network tram or bus, and shuttle buses direct to festival site, available exclusively on the Bee Network app.
