Aspire Care and Support Wins Prestigious Heart of Salford Awards

A Salford Care and Support group were recognised for “making a tangible difference in the local area” at the Heart of Salford Awards.

The award show hosted by Salford CVS, acknowledged Aspire for Intelligent Care and Support by naming them VCSE Organisation of the Year, alongside Salford Lads and Girls Club.

Aspire for Intelligent Care and Support was established in 2015, and has been run as a community-interest company (CIC) that specialises in supporting people living with dementia, disabilities, and learning disabilities to live their lives, their way.

It operates throughout Salford, covering Swinton, Eccles, Pendleton, Broughton, Little Hulton, and other local areas.

During the awards, they were honoured for the exceptional work they do across Salford, supporting people living with dementia, learning disabilities, or complex health needs to live their lives, their way.

After receiving the award on Tuesday 3 June, Aspire CEO Lisa Dickinson said: “At Aspire, we put people at the heart of everything we do.

“This award is a powerful recognition of the dedication, compassion, and innovation our team brings every day to improve the lives of the people we support.”

She continued: “We’re incredibly proud to be part of a vibrant VCSE community in Salford that drives real, meaningful change.”

The Heart of Salford Awards is Salford’s bi-annual celebration of the incredible contributions made by volunteers and VCSE organisations across the city.

It highlights the powerful role local groups play in building resilient communities and improving the lives of Salford residents.

During the awards also CEO Lisa Dickinson was awarded with an Outstanding Contribution’ award, recognising the hard work, dedication, and passion of outstanding members of the VCSE sector for the city of Salford and its people.

As well as that volunteer Greg Hayhurst was also shortlisted for the Volunteer of the Year Award, having been nominated by colleagues for his enthusiasm, positivity, and excellent work ethic, which he puts into his role.

Heather Yates, Volunteer and Activities Team Leader at Aspire continued: “Greg is a joy to be around, he always has a smile on his face and is a real helping hand to our catering teams. A true winner in our eyes.”

The Heart of Salford Awards follows their success at the recent Spirit of Salford Awards, where Aspire Support Worker Steve Hayles was awarded Public Servant of the Year.

And the Aspire Horticultural Activity Team were also shortlisted for the Health Innovation Project award.
