Salford City have announced their first signing of the transfer window signing midfielder Kallum Cesay from National League side Wealdstone.

The versatile midfielder will be joining the club from The Stones for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old will be leaving the South of England after joining the club in February 2024, where he was able to help The Stones secure a place in the National League for the 2024/25 season.

And he continued to impress this past season for Wealdstone in the National League, where he was able to score six goals in thirty-seven league appearances.

Aside from his ability to score goals, he was also able to earn himself a good reputation at the club for his high energy and work rate.

He would also assist  Alex Reid’s last-minute winner to send Wealdstone through into the Second Round of the Emirates FA Cup for the first time in over 40 years.

He would then go on to earn man of the match against League One leaders at the time, Wycombe Wanderers, in the second round, broadcast live on ITV on a record-breaking day at The Vale.
Following his announced departure, Wealdstone FC said: “We thank Kallum for all his efforts at Wealdstone and wish him every success on his journey in the Football League.”

However, prior to joining Wealdstone, Cesay spent his early years at Tottenham where he also made four international appearances for Sierra Leone, scoring twice for the African nation.

His arrival to the club will mark a complete change for the club, as they saw 17 players exit at the end of the season – after sharing their retain and release list following the 2024-25 campaign.

The exit of players also saw captain Curtis Tilt announce that he will be leaving the club for newly promoted League One Bradford City.

So, the signing of Cesay will be the first of many changes expected over the summer transfer window.

After the announcement of the signing, Kallum Cesay said: “I am very happy to be here, and my first impressions are very good.

“I am very keen to get started now, I’ve watched a couple of games, and I like how they play, so I definitely want to start and get going really.”

He continued: “Promotion is definitely the goal but we will see how the season goes, I don’t really have any doubts, we have some really good players so we should be alright.

“I am looking forward to playing in front of the Salford fans and I just need to deliver for them really, no excuses, no exceptions.”
