Dockyard - MediaCity's Original Local

MediaCity’s ‘Original Local’ has announced that it will close its doors for the final time after 13 years this week. 

Since 2012, The Dockyard, has been a favourite amongst residents, serving “the largest rotating selection of craft beer and ale in the area.”

For years it has been a popular destination at the heart of MediaCity – and has often been used before Manchester United matchdays.

However, The Dockyard, shared on social media on Friday 30 May that they will be pulling their final pints on Wednesday 4 June.

The statement on social media said: “Next Wednesday, we’ll be pulling our final pints and closing our doors for the last time.

“To every single one of you who’s walked through our doors over the last 13 years, thank you. You’ve not just been customers; you’ve been part of the Dockyard family.”

“From after work drinks to weekend catch ups, we loved being your local, and it’s been an honour to serve this community.”

Ahead of the closure, the pub has encouraged those in the area to visit for the final day for “heavy discounts on draught products and a special love music performance from “Honey I Shrunk the Band’.”

Following the announcement, customers shared their upset of the news, as Emma Jones commented: “Absolutely gutted! Loved this place and all the staff.”

And Scotty_Wyllie also commented: “Gutted to read this news, one of my favourite places to go before United games.”

There were also comments that reflected the opening of the pub in 2012, as Mr David Clifford also said: “Very sorry to hear this I remember coming in for a pie and pint on the opening day great memories at Dockyard.”

However, the original MediaCity pub also left customers a hint of what the building and pub space has instore for the future.

As the statement finished by saying: “P.S. We’ve heard something exciting is coming soon… so watch this space.”
