Salford Red Devils search for a second win continued after they suffered another league defeat to Castleford Tigers, losing 48-16.
The Red Devils travelled to The Mend-A-Hose Jungle stadium but struggled to compete from the start of the fixture.
The Tigers were able to score early in the match and continued to push the Red Devils further away in the league table.
Tex Hoy was able to score his first of the match for Castleford, going on to score a hat-trick for the Tigers.
And despite Salford Red Devils best efforts, they were unable to find the correct pass or offload to weave themselves through the rigid defensive line of Castleford.
This proved to be problematic for the Paul Rowley’s side, as they were then put further behind after further tries before the break from centre Zac Cini and wing Innes Senior, the Tigers led 24-0 at half-time.
As the first half ended the Devils were 24-0 down and not wanting to be niled for the sixth time this season.
However, the tide turned as the second half begun with two tries in eight minutes from Foster and MacDonald.
This boosted the confidence of the Red Devils, but this did not last long as Castleford scored another try and began to run away with the game.
The Tigers responded to the Salford’s attempts with two quick scores of their own, both converted by Milnes, to restore their big lead.
Prop Mustapha barged over under the posts and Hoy won the race on to Mellor’s delicate kick for his third of the match, both converted, to put Castleford 36-10 in front with 15 minutes remaining.
Second row Mellor cantered over to extend Tigers’ lead to 42-10 and although MacDonald touched down for his second try for Salford, Tigers’ stand-off Asi scooped up a loose ball to go over, with Milnes landing his eighth conversion.
The Red Devils remain bottom of the division, but will turn their attention towards Wakefield Trinity this weekend – more information can be found here.
