Salford residents will be able to enjoy the returning outdoor dining concept in MediaCity, with a new line-up of independent street food traders.

The dining and event scene Kargo on the Docks returned on Friday 9 May, serving food in the sun from a collection of re-imagined shipping containers.

Doors reopened on the waterside and will be open Tuesday to Sunday from 12pm to 9pm, allowing residents to enjoy flavours.

Throughout the summer, visitors will be able to explore menus packed with bold new flavours, including Caribbean, Lebanese, Mexican, Ethiopian, and Pan-Asian dishes.

Returning for a second year, Kargo on the Docks will continue the legacy of its original concept, Box on the Docks.

Throughout the summer, Salfordians will be able to eat at restaurants that include Afro Shack, the sister brand to Kargo.MKT favourite House of Habesha – they will be serving fusion food such as burgers, loaded fries and wraps, combining East African flavours with indulgent American fast food.

They will also be accompanied by the new company Wok Bros, who will be serving sizzling, wok-tossed Pan-Asian Street food and 100% halal dishes inspired by authentic flavours and fresh ingredients.

Iconic Jamaican dishes such as coconut jerk chicken and crispy fried fish bites will also be on offer from Sunrise Caribbean.

Salford residents will be able to enjoy slow-cooked Birria tacos, cheesy quesadillas and vibrant rice bowls packed with the spirit of Mexico from Quiero Tacos.

And in the summer sun, flavours of the Mediterranean food lovers can expect juicy lamb koftas, golden halloumi, and richly spiced chicken shawarma from Habibs.

Kargo on the Docks also features a range of artwork and installations from local independent talent, which has been at the heart of theOn the Docks’ initiative since its inception.

The containers are all adorned with murals from creatives including Fernandes Makes, Kelly Ma, and Caroline Daly, as well as Venessa Scott and MikeSian Studio, bringing a feel-good summer vibe to the MediaCity Gardens.

And with the return of Kargo on the Docks, Caroline Aikman, Director of Marketing and Place at MediaCity, said:We’re proud to support and celebrate emerging, homegrown talent at MediaCity and Kargo on the Docks perfectly captures that spirit.

“The space offers a brilliant meeting place where our growing community of residents, workers, students and visitors can relax and enjoy the best of local food and creativity in a vibrant, green setting.”

Visitors can also enjoy an art trail display through the gardens, featuring structures designed by A Studio Called Jane, Luke Passey and Tasha Whittle.

Matt Bigland, Founder and CEO of Blend Family, which operates Kargo.MKT and Kargo on the Docks said:It’s great to be back at Kargo on the Docks for a second year.
