Local people are being invited to have their say on plans to transform Ordsall Lane into a vibrant waterfront community.
The plans are set to bring new homes, open space and improved riverside access with a Pavilion building providing the focus for new commercial and community space.
Local people are being invited to comment on the plans as part of a public consultation which will take place until Thursday 22 May 2025.
The project team will be hosting a drop-in consultation event that will be hosted on Tuesday 13 May between 3-7pm at Silkbank Wharf, where the local community can find out more.
Imco Holdings and Forshaw Group are hoping to the knockdown the McDonald’s, KFC, and Grosvenor Casino currently occupying Riverside Retail Park and deliver three residential buildings with the tallest rising to 36 storeys.
The joint venture will aim to create 808 homes ranging from one to three bedrooms across three striking buildings, as well as a two-storey Pavilion building and substantial upgrades to the public.
The proposals follow Forshaw’s successful delivery of Silkbank Wharf next door to the site which was acquired from Imco.
The scheme is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs and £67m in economic value over the three-year build.
On completion, more than 1,900 new residents will bring a £23m boost to local shops and services, supporting 86 jobs locally. The McDonald’s, KFC and Grosvenor Casino currently occupying the site will be demolished to make way for the new scheme.
The principal of demolition has previously been established through a Prior Approval application in October 2023. The existing Riverside Retail Park will continue to trade in the meantime, only vacating once planning is secured.
Riverside Place, Salford will also be aiming to reflect its name by creating new spaces for residents and the wider community to relax and enjoy.
Riverside Place, Salford also supports the Council’s ambitions for high-density, residential-led growth in this location – and will start with the development of the 808 new homes.
The new development would contribute directly to the city’s goal of building 9,000 new homes across Ordsall, Quays, Pendleton and Charlestown by 2042.
Ahead of the public consultation, a spokesperson for the project said: “Riverside Place, Salford will breathe new life into this brownfield site, drawing upon the area’s rich history and local character, while paying homage to its past as the former Globe Bottling Works.
“The Pavilion building creates a genuine opportunity to provide new facilities serving both the development and existing community, while opening up the riverside for everyone to enjoy.
“We’re keen to hear local feedback which will help inform this ambitious regeneration.”
