Emergency services attended a fire in Little Hulton on a commercial site, with black smoke seen for miles.

Four fire engines were called to the scene this afternoon (Wednesday 30 April) on Lester Road, Little Hulton with a blaze involving a conveyor belt and trummel.

Residents in the area could see black smoke in the Salford skyline for miles just before 2.25pm.

Emergency services attended the scene and were able to extinguish the flame and remain in attendance to continue to dampen the fire.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At just before 2.25pm on Wednesday (April 30) four fire engines from Farnworth, Atherton and Horwich fire stations attended a fire involving a conveyor belt and trummel at a commercial site on Lester Road, Little Hulton.

“Firefighters used jets and hose reels to extinguish the fire and make the surrounding area safe. Crews remain in attendance to dampen down any hot spots.”
