The Lowry theatre is celebrating its official 25th anniversary today, with the Salford theatre receiving various wishes from familiar faces.

The Salford theatre that opened in 2000, has been a triumph at the heart of Salford Quays.

The theatre has been long standing , being there for a quarter of a century and has been apart of a huge transformation the Salford Quays and MediaCity.

Hosting countless of shows, and welcoming over 18.5 million visitors during this time frame – the theatre is celebrating it’s ‘birthday’ with a spectacular programme of celebratory events, and exhibitions.

And for the Lowry’s 25th anniversary celebrations amongst the numerous events it will be hosting this year famous and familiar faces gave the Salford theatre birthday wishes.

With the Lowry sharing on social media, “We’re delighted to have received some very exciting birthday messages from some familiar faces!”

Messages to the Lowry included the cast of The Lion, the Witch and Wardrobe, Operation Mincemeat, and Room on the Broom cast amongst many more as well as wished from faces such as James Graham, Johnny Vegas, and Russel Kane.

Writer and comedian Russel Kane joked:  “Happy Birthday Lowry you are now 25 which is excellent news because you can buy win in Mark & Spencer’s without showing your ID.”

James Graham, British playwright and screenwriter of Dear England added: “Happy Birthday the Lowry, I can’t believe you’re only 25, you look amazing.”

And Johnny Vegas said: “Hey up, the Lowry. 25th Birthday, congratulations who knew?”

The celebrations of the Lowry’s birthday also received a message from the Mayor of Salford Paul Dennett, who said: “When we first imagined the Lowry we didn’t just see a theatre and an art gallery.

“We saw Salford Quays and all that it represented, once a derelict dockland, through visionary planning and determination we transformed this part of the city into a bustling creative and cultural hub.

“So the Lowry continues to inspire people of all ages,” he continued: “Happy anniversary Lowry!”

The messages are incorporated with the wide variety of celebrations being done at the Lowry.

This week celebrations will begin with the Gods of Salford tomorrow, and will continue throughout the year.

Celebrations will be continuing at the Lowry all year round with the theatre sharing “Keep your eye out for these messages as we share them throughout the year.”
