Salford Red Devils Women have advanced to the Challenge Shield Final as Hull FC are unable to fulfil the fixture.

After an impressive performance in last Sunday’s quarter-final, Mike Grady’s team were hard at work preparing for the visit of Hull FC in the semi-final.

However, following the Airlie Birds recent forfeit of the semi-final, Mike Grady’s team will be focused on the final at the the Millennium Stadium on Saturday 11 May.

The Red Devils Women have been impressive throughout the Challenge Shield with dominant wins against Wakefield Trinity and Bradford Bulls.

On the route to the final they were able to score 88 points without a reply, beating Wakefield Trinity 36-0 and the Bulls 52-0.

And after their dominant performance they will be definitely look like a strong outfit in the final – where they will meet either Hull KR or Swinton Lionesses this weekend.

On reaching his first final in charge of the women’s team, Head Coach, Mike Grady said: “I’m really pleased for the group to have made the final.

“The staff, coaches and players have worked hard, and we 100% deserve to be there.

“We haven’t conceded a try throughout the cup rounds and only one in all of our competitive games so far. Couple that with the rugby we have been playing then it’s a credit to how hard the players have worked during pre-season and this final is the reward for that.

“I’m expecting a really tough game whoever we play, we will have to prepare well and be prepared to battle for a full 80 minutes – really looking forward to the day!”
