A recent study has found that Salford has ranked on top for cleanliness out of 30 UK cities amongst clean restaurants, cafes and canteens.
The studies conducted by Alliance Online, a leading catering supplier across the UK and Ireland used data from the Food Standards Agency that found that Salford had the highest percentage of five star cleanliness ratings.
The studies were taken from 212 venues across Salford, which saw 197 venues, 93 per cent of the clean restaurants, cafes and canteens ranking five stars.
The focus from Alliance Online also found that Salford were a clear favourite, with Nottingham ranking second with a score of 80 per cent.
Following the release of the data Rachael Kiss from Alliance Online said: ‘It’s paramount that processes are in place in restaurants, cafes and canteens to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses and ensure the safety and well-being of customers.’
For restaurants to have achieved a five star rating, they have to monitor strict cleanliness standards and organisation, effective staff training and excellent food handling practice.
Data was analysed through comprising a list of 30 of the largest UK towns and cities, and finding restaurants respective to their areas that had achieved 5 star cleanliness via the food standards agency website.
This number of five star restaurants, and then divided by the total number of restaurants for the per centage.
