Salford Red Devils will continue the search for their second league victory as they are set to play against Leigh Leopards in Round Nine of the Betfred Super League.
The Red Devils who have had a challenging season so far will be walking into the fixture looking for a confidence boost after the 38-10 defeat in in Perpignan against the Catalan Dragons.
Despite the fantastic support from the fans, they were unable to pick up the needed points to help lift themselves off of the bottom of the league table in this rescheduled fixture.
Paul Rowley’s side who have had a challenging start to the campaign with player exits, and financial worries will be hoping they can find their form once again with their last victory coming on March 20 against Huddersfield Giants.
And with league form declining, they will be looking for a confidence boost in their upcoming fixture away from home in a fiery North-West derby.
However, the Red Devils will be faced with a tough challenge as they face a Leopards team that have been in strong contention for the top of the league and are currently ranked third in the Super League.
The Leopards so far this season have demonstrated dominant form, winning significant matches in their recent fixtures, where the Leopards secured an 18-14 victory over the Warrington Wolves.
While Salford haven’t found the same luck in the Super League after admitting financial troubles, only finding one win so far this season, a stark reality to last seasons matchup against the Leopards.
And with both sides having something to fight for this season, both teams are expected to play fiercely as they battle for vital Super League points.
The head-to-head leans slightly in favour of Salford historically, who have previously garnered good results against Leigh, however, given recent form and off-field circumstances the scales heavily weigh on Leigh’s side.
But with both teams histories stretching over a century and only ten miles separating the two, Salford will be looking to bring the game to the Leopards, as they look to bring home a much needed win for the Red Devils.
